Memory Works Retreat 2011

So... For Mothers Day Jake and Jay decided to get me and midge this awesome scrapbook retreat!!! All I can say is "Oh My" what a great time we had. Made so many new talented friends. Here is a pic of me and Midge at the retreat.

Ok so we all know that we have to break for Dinner, so we went to Roosters for dinner. Great food. MMMM....

This is us on Day 3 with Teresa Collins, Can I just say she is just amazing in person as she is with her design. We made a fun mini album which you will see soon. Operation Write Home

You are probably wondering what this is about. Well, there are many Troops out there fighting for our Country. Men and Women; Uncles, Aunts, Moms and Dads, Brothers and Sisters, Grandpa and Grandmas, or even just friends or neighbors, whomever it is they have families and friends that they have left home. They miss birthdays, anniversaries, when people pass away, weddings, babies being born etc. At the Memory Works Retreat I had the opportunity to meet a sweet gal by the name of Betty (Sorry Betty I don't have your last name) from Idaho. She introduced this to all of the ladies at the retreat and her goal was to make 200 cards. Well needless to say the ladies at the retreat all pulled together and made over 600 cards to send to our Troops. Now I have to say I am glad that I could participate in this awesome act of service. Below is the table of most but not ALL of the cards that were made.

My Sweet Friend Midge, planned this surprise for me, for my Birthday! We went to eat at the Pizza Factory and then to the movie. We were half way up the canyon when she handed me the paper work to tell me we were going to a scrapbook retreat!! Whoop Whoop!! My sweet friend made arrangements with my hubby and off we went.
My Birthday started out with a bang! I came upstairs and the whole group sang Happy Birthday to me, then my station had silly string all over along with a Birthday Sash, and a present. I opened the present and it was a Vampire Novel starring ME and my HUBBY as the main characters and Midge as the BFF. Ha Love it!! I cant wait to read it. Then the day only gets better! My hubby had Flowers sent to me and they are beautiful! Made me have a tear cause he never sends me FLOWERS. Auhhhhhh...... Plus all of the Birthday wishes on facebook, and the texts that flooded my phone. You guys are the best. Then after dinner I came downstairs for dessert and the host had made me a cake, and they sang to me again with candles. Good Times! Loved the birthday shouts!!!!! I am glad to be the big 33!!

I am soooo, excited about the NEW CRICUT IMAGINE!!!! I was trained on it last Wednesday. You won't believe your eyes it is so A-MAZING. All I have to say is I was just like a little redheaded, freckle face girl standing at a candy store!! You have to tune in to HSN on September 14th at 12:01 am. DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!!! They will be launching this fabulous machine, and the new cartridges! Happy Crafting.

Ok so I must post!!! I have been so excited and busy working on things that I need to get this amazing news out to all my peeps!! I don't want to brag but I am super d duper excited for this fun new adventure that I am embarking on!!! Well Drum Roll Please............................ Well I interviewed with Provo Craft and took in my work and I am so happy to say that I am the newest member on their Design Team!!! Whoop Whoop, I have been busy working on projects that they have assigned me, and excited to get their feedback on what I have designed!! This was a blessing in disguise really. I needed something that I could do from home that would make good money so I can start helping with the dreaded bills!!! This is just the thing that our family needed. So wish me luck as I take my designing to a new level!!! Thanks for all of the support from friends and family that believed in me also thanks to an amazing husband for loving and supporting me!

I made these fun cupcake flowers for two of my favorite people for their birthdays! This one that says "50" was for my mom! The second one was for my sweet niece Rythymm! She will be one on Sunday and i love that i added her picture to it.

Dear Cannon,

I have to say it has been good while it lasted. I loved carrying you on my shoulder and around my neck. The moments we shared together are priceless. I think I have found you a Doctor to see if your sickness can be cured or if it is terminal. My heart is saddened and I have in fact started to morn. My Black attire is fitting for such a !!!parting between two friends. What am I going to do without you? How will I catch all of those moments with just a simple touch of my finger? How am I going to find something that will get the clear picture and understand me the way that you did? How will I understand another? It took me 5 years to get to know you now I am going to have to TRY to get to know someone else. All I can say is this is for the birds, I do not like saying goodbye, so for your sake and mine I hope the Doctor can find a cure. I love you my dear friend and I hope that this isn't goodbye for the two of us. I am crossing my fingers wishing you to GET WELL SOON.

Yup, it was that time of the year again when me and my friends go to our twice annual retreat! We had a blast. (But when don't i have a hoot with them?) Ok so I have a question for you, Why is it that when a bunch of girlfriends get together their is always one who cries? Hmmmmm, it isn't because of DRAMA this time hahahaha it is just the sisterhood that was felt while we were there. Ok Ok i admit i was the one that opened the flood gates. I have to say that for the last month i have felt very overwhelmed, but not wanting to show it, I for some STUPID reason thought that i needed to be SUPERWOMAN. Why? I have no clue other than I guess I didn't want to let myself down along with everyone else (if that makes sense). So while we were there it took alot for me to just let go and who better to be with and let go then my bestest friends? They were so great and supportive. It is so nice to have such friends that love you through thick and thin and don't judge they just listen. Man I cant express enough love and gratitude for these sweet ladies that I have the privilege to call my FRIENDS. I have to say that I am so lucky to have these ladies on my side, I know they have my back and WOWZEERS i would hate to meet the person that messes with them. So here is a shout out to my dearest pals: THANK YOU Mindee (midge lol), Mims, Melinda (malinda lol),Stace,and Steph. You gals are the bestest in the westest.

Ok ok, so my basement flooded over the christmas holiday. Ruined my kids toy room, the carpet is gross, the walls are ruined. It stinks, so my hubby pulled out the carpet and threw all of the nasty toys away (thank goodness that my kids are now 8 and 12 or i would have been in a world of hurt) so now the room is airing out with fans and such. The good news is that it DIDNT touch my scrapbook room which i am lucky lucky, but the even better news is that my sweetheart said that i now get the WHOLE basement as my Own personal SCRAPBOOK HAVEN!! WHoop WHoop!!!! Also he is husband of the year cause he bought me the black desk from SCRAPBOX!

oh and yes i will post pics as soon as my room is done. Let's all xxxx our fingers that it is done soon!

I made this Christmas tag mini album using my wal-mart photo envelope. When I saw it i knew there had to be something that i could do with it. Then while i was at my owl crop it hit me, i will make it a simple but cute Christmas tag mini album. It was great fun using something that wasn't meant for scrapbooking and turning it into something so cute:)

This was a fun trip to the Demolition Derby in Kamas. My brother and my dad thought it would be funny to look and act like rednecks. This derby was amazing i never have laughed harder at all of the lookers out there. fun times.

These are Halloween Layout that i created while at the retreat. Janee was my sweet strawberry shortcake, Autymm was the adorable Dorthy from the wizard of oz and my sweet niece Memphys who was the cutest little monster around. Retreat Wear

Each year we go to the retreat we all have to have matching shirts custom made by Malinda's Designs and each day they are different. The first one is "I run with decorative scissors" the second one is "Scrapbook Hero" and the third is "Got Glue Dots?" and the forth is "I made 6,562,315,151,564 layouts in one second BAM!!" Good times had by all these girls make my heart smile and they are a group of very talented women!

Baptism mini album & layouts

I took the November Housecalls kit from the company that I design for (Heartstring Designs) and made these cute layouts along with my daughters baptism mini album. I couldn't believe how much product came in this kit.
This layout I used a fun pic that me and midge took while we were in Ireland. We were in the bus on the tour and these cute Irish kids were on the side of the road with their goat and donkey so we stopped and took a picture with them. The only thing that was not in this kit that i used was my Dymo label maker. The title is "Billy goat Gruff"

I took the topper from the packaging of the frames from Chatterbox and covered it with paper, wrapped it around the side and combined other pattern pieces to make this unique side border.

This is a cute layout using a picture of me and my grandma marsing. I loved this pattern paper by Bo Bunny and the exclusive matboard title "live" by heartsting designs. Completing the layout with the lighter pink border to add a feminine touch to the masculine paper. Oh and who could forget the glitter brad also by chatterbox.

The unique thing on this layout is that i wanted to spice up the matboard and took my brown distress ink by tim holtz and stamped on the matboard. Love how the look turned out.

This is the first page of the mini album. Using the frames from Chatterbox I created the templates for the rest of the pages in the album. The only things used in this album that were NOT in the kit were this orange ring to hold the album together and the orange small alpha stickers by My Little Shoe Box. It was great to coordinate and do a whole album out of what was in this unique housecalls kit.

I stitched around the picture on the left and used a crochet flower that came from the Chatterbox embellishment set. The picture on the right is on the matboard piece exclusive by Heartstring Designs.

The page on the left is the back side of the exclusive matobard by Heartstrings along with the orange circle to bring out the flowers in this picture. The pic on the right is using another frame from the set by Chatterbox, along with the brad at the bottom.

Using the brown cardstock I traced my frame and cut it out for the backside of the frame. I also used another piece of the matboard. This next page on the right is made from the packaging from the embellishment kit also by Chatterbox. I just covered it with the fun paper that was in the pack. The black circle is also a matboard exclusive by Heartstring Designs.

Again, the page on the left is the back side of the packaging from the embellishment kit along with two pieces of matboard. The page on the right is another frame from the Chatterbox frame set.
These are the final two pages. The one on the left is using a photo turn matboard piece and a fun glitter brad along with some cute MLSB stickers. The page on the right is just some journal on how proud I am of Autymm and her decision to be baptized.

Halloween Mini Album

I made these using the October Housecalls kit from Heartstring designs. The tags were made last with left over paper, and the album is all from the kit with a couple execptions. The alpha stickers are from American Crafts and My Little Shoe Box and the white pen, and i bound this book using the Zutter. Everything else seen is from the kit. Awesome hu?? I loved it!

I just have to say that i am so excited i just got picked up by a new company that will be up and running soon to be on their design team! Am i excited you ask? Hmmmmm.... Yup!! How fun is that? Two design teams i am thrilled. I cant release any info about the NEW company but i can about the other company i design for Heartsting Designs they are great, awesome exclusive product using matboard, and other awesome companies. Go to their blog and look for the latest and greatest designs that the designers have been working on:)

Hopefully you can get the just of it though:) Loved doing these and working with some fun things from "Scribble Scrabble" and "Fancy Pants" the ribbon thing was something new that i tried and i really love how it turned out:) I hope my owlies likie:)

Ok, Here we are the OPP!!!! Wow how much fun do I have with these girls? They are simply the best! So much talent in this group of ladies. We have an amazing time laughing so hard that Yes, I have had a little pee cause I have laughed so hard!! Plus I walk away with awesome kits that help get me ahead. This month it was Lisa and Steph's Birthdays So the theme here was Luau, fun with tiki torches and lays. Malinda always goes all out so it isnt a surprise that we all have flowers in our hair and the lays around our neck you should have scene the inside of the house. So much fun. Sorry I didn't get to stay the whole time this time but i will catch ya later!!

Ok, so I told all of you about this idea I read in creating keepsakes mag, right? Well, I am doing a magazine call and one of the things is that you make your own sketch and then do your layout. So I thought why not a better time than now to try out those awesome tissue flowers? They turned out awesome!!!! They took a little longer to dry than I thought but all was good. I made this super fun purse, bag or whatever you would like to call it, out of scrapbooks supplies. I took scrapbook paper and laminated it, then I used large and small eyelets by We R Memory Keepers (there are over 80 eyelets), and 4 x-large eyelets by Making Memories. I also used ribbon for the handles and ALOTof other ribbon:) I have my fingers crossed I submitted to homemade mag, so lets see if it is a keeper:)

Some of you may have the creating keepsakes magazine. But if you don't I read a tip in there that I thought was totally awesome:) So here goes are you ready????
Sweet!
First you take tissue paper and fold it up several times. (white works best)
Second you use your "whale of a punch" circle punch and cut them into circles (that is why you fold them because you can cut alot of them at one time)
Third you then use some spray ink from tattered angels or something else and spray the circles.
Let them completely dry.
Fourth take the flowers and a button sew the button on in the middle of the flowers and walla! some cute cheep fast easy flowers.
*For a little bit different look take the flowers and use double sided tape and stick them to your page, then take out your sewing machine and do circles around the flower to give it more of a finished look

Owl scrap night and Mimi birhtday! Oh so fun it was a twilight theme and we had vampire teeth in in this pic. Malinda is the party diva and had a fog machine when you walked in the door and got this huge cutout of EDWARD for mims for her b-day! She also took our pic and made key chains for all of us with our favorite vamp. Then we had a chocolate fountain and had red chocolate with strawberries and marshmallows, plus we had apples (you know the theme of twilight) and pizza, and it was a great night.
I love these ladies they make me laugh so hard. Whaahaahaa!!

Hahah I bought a Martha Stewert boarder punch. Expecting it to be like the friskers brand. Nope didn't happen. You know the old punches were you think you are giving birth to just punch the object out? Well, this little missy is the same, plus it gets stuck after punching so you have to wait until it decided that it wants to pop back up so you can get your paper out. What a pain!! This is why I always hated punches. (That is until the whale of a punch came out! And the friskers boarder punches are brilliant!) So just a piece of info if you are going to buy a boarder punch choose carefully!!

Wow! Have I been in a card craze..... While I was sitting there today watching General Conference I decided since I had brought my stuff in from the retreat (finally) and it was sitting in the kitchen, I better sit and make some cards out of all of the scrap paper that I have. So it was great, listening, watching, and creating. Fun times.... Hope you enjoy em'.

I made this sweet boy card for a baby shower. I had fun cutting out the frog and using googly eyes on him, I also used gems on his belly to enhance the spots. I had fun making this card. I am ususally not a card person but my sweet friend Malinda said that they are way fun and faster than a scrapbook l/o so I have been trying to put more effort into my cards, and guess what? She is right they are fun to make and I love the finished project.:)

On the road again.. I just can't wait to get on the road again.... Yup that's right I am headed for good old St. George Utah this weekend. And do you even have to ask what I am going there for? I mean come on what else do I go out of town for? Ok sure sure you always have the family vacation or meetings or something, but this time it is just the "GIrls" uHU we are going there to SCRAp the nights away. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. The only sadness left behind is that I am going to miss crop night with the OPP! Sorry to all my fellow owliees out there I will make it up to you all for shizzle!
